Lady Whitefaces fall to Bushland in four games

The Hereford volleyball team lost in four games to Bushland Friday night 25-22, 25-20, 17-25, 25-20.
The victory in Amarillo for the multi-time Class 2A state champions came despite a monster match by Hereford middle blocker Meredith Hays. The 5-foot-11 senior bombarded the Bushland defense to the tune of 30 kills. She also blocked six shots and had four stuffs at the net. On the back line, Hays had 26 digs and also served up two aces.
Reagan Strafuss added 13 kills and 13 digs and Kathryn Collier chipped in with nine kills.
Defensively at the net, Dusty Davis had three blocks and three stuffs and Carley Allen had two blocks and two stuffs.
Paityn Davis added 16 digs for the Lady Whitefaces. Jill Artho notched 14 digs. Sarah Brown and Dusty Davis had 10 apiece.
Brown served up a team-high three aces.
The loss drops Hereford to 15-10 on the season while Bushland raised its record to 17-10.
Hereford will have its final non-district tuneup today when they travel to Tascosa for a 6 p.m. contest in Amarillo. The Lady Herd will open their District 3-4A campaign Saturday at Dumas at 2 p.m.
